What is teeth straightening?

Teeth straightening is sometimes referred to as orthodontics. It is a special branch of dentistry concerned with the alignment of the teeth. Properly aligned teeth are not only aesthetically pleasing but they are also easier to care for and more efficient. Teeth straightening uses fixed or removable braces to gently move the teeth into the correct position.

Teeth straightening explained

Unhappy with your smile?

If you feel self-conscious when you smile, you’re not alone. Many people feel they are unable to smile with confidence because of the appearance of their teeth. You might have misaligned, crooked or rotated teeth. Or perhaps you have gaps in your smile. All of these issues can be corrected using teeth straightening methods. We use Invisalign and fixed braces to help adults and teens to achieve a perfect smile.

How does orthodontics work?

Depending on the orthodontic system you choose, you will either have fixed braces made up of brackets and wires, or you may choose removable plastic aligners. Braces and aligners apply gentle pressure to the teeth over time to help move them into the optimum position. Most teeth straightening plans will take around 12-18 months to complete.

Benefits of orthodontics

  • Boost your confidence

  • Teeth are easier to care for

  • Choose between fixed and removable aligners

  • See the results in as little as 6 months

  • Invest in your oral health

Your Treatment Journey

1
Book your consultation

During your initial consultation, you’ll have a chance to ask questions about the procedure and make sure it is the right choice for you.

2
Explore payment options

To help you spread the cost of cosmetic treatment, we offer interest-free payment plans on most procedures.

3
Taking impressions

We start by taking digital and physical impressions of your teeth which are then sent to a lab to create your porcelain veneer.

4
Preparing the teeth

During your second visit, the teeth are prepared by removing a small amount of enamel to make space for the veneer.

5
Placing your veneer

The veneer is permanently attached to your teeth and then your restoration is complete – it’s time to smile with confidence.

6
Aftercare and support

We’ll help you to care for your restoration and keep it looking beautiful with comprehensive aftercare instructions.

Who is an ideal candidate for teeth straightening?

To be a suitable candidate for teeth straightening, you would need to have good oral health. You would also need to be willing to follow the treatment plan for an extended period. Orthodontics can take up to 18 months to complete, so it is not a quick-fix solution. Through the treatment, you may need to attend regular checkups and adjustments, so this should also be considered before committing to a treatment plan.

What teeth straightening options are available?

You will have a choice between Invisalign or traditional fixed braces. Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners while fixed braces use brackets and wires. The orthodontic system you choose will depend on the alignment issues that need to be fixed and your personal lifestyle preferences. Some people like to wear clear plastic aligners because they are more discreet. Others prefer to wear fixed braces because it means they don’t have to worry about forgetting to wear them. We’ll help you to choose the system that is right for you.

Teeth straightening costs in 2022

The final cost of your teeth straightening treatment will depend largely on the system you choose. Other factors that impact the price are the number of arches you would like to address, and if you want a full orthodontic treatment or an express treatment. We will help you to understand the full cost of treatment before moving forward.
